Weimaraner Rescue South Africa is a volunteer-based non-profit organisation, the main focus of which is to rescue and responsibly rehome weimaraners in distress. Although we mainly rescue and rehome Weimaraners, we will also work with other rescue organisations to rehome all manner of Weimaraner cross breeds as well as Viszlas and other hunting/pointing dogs. We will also assist with networking lost dogs, as well as keeping strays safe from harm where possible. We rely on a large network of friends in other breed specific rescues organisations such as GSP Rescue, Labrador Rescue and Great Dane Rescue. We do not restrict ourselves to specific rescue groups and have worked very well with Langebaan Animal Care, D.A.R.T, Fallen Angels and many other smaller groups. Butterfly World Animal Sanctuary is a "forever home" for hundreds of rescues from the illegal small wild pet trade or donations from previous pet owners.
The welfare of our rescues is of paramount importance with specialised habitats; high quality veterinary care and bespoke catering geared towards the needs of each creature. Only the freshest ingredients are used. Our professional educators host schools groups and run live animal demonstrations to all our local and international visitors to "find the pretty" in all our animal ambassadors.
We're open every day from 9-5 and continuously update our exhibits in response to our new inhabitants'. We have been caring for these precious animals for over 22 years now.
